I'm absolutely thrilled to be taking on a new contract alongside the brilliant folk at Creative Lives. Together, we'll be working with Historic England, engaging communities across the east of England to research a series of new blue plaque nominations - focussing on working class, women's, queer, and Black and POC histories.

This commission builds on my own local research about the hidden histories of working class women, and an (ongoing) volunteer project with Porty Pride to capture and preserve the stories of locally-rooted queer activism. It's an opportunity to work with community groups across Cambridgeshire, Bedfordshire, Hertfordshire, Essex, Norfolk and Suffolk to discover more about their research and interests, and learn more about local people whose lives deserve a wider profile.

This project runs from April to December 2026, and if there are groups or individuals that you think should be on our radar, please drop me an email at kathryn@creative-lives.org.
